- ➤ Peoria County’s GIS Department invites residents to celebrate GIS Day on November 20 from 1–4 pm at the Courthouse in Room G10. The event will offer hands-on information about mapping and data systems in an engaging setting. Peoria County
- ➤ Downtown roads will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon for the Veterans Day Parade sponsored by American Legion Post 2. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the intersection of W. Romeo B. Garrett Avenue and N. William Kumpf Boulevard—after which a ceremony will take place at the Peoria County Courthouse while drivers are advised to follow marked detours. City of Peoria
- ➤ Peoria County will kick off its 200th birthday celebration on January 13 at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Locals can look forward to a festive event that marks two centuries of community history—an important milestone for the area. Peoria County

- ➤ Jerry Agatucci, a third generation owner of Agatucci’s and a restaurant legend in Peoria, passed away Tuesday night at age 87. He retired (in 2005) after decades in the business, and his son Danny recalled that his father treated each guest like family. WMBD

- ➤ Peoria resident Katie Cox, a 13-year breast cancer survivor who works at Children’s Home Associate of Illinois, was selected to join season two of Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge where she will compete against 455 others for a $4.56 million prize—she plans to use her winnings to support breast cancer research and local animal shelters. 25 News Now

- ➤ The Peoria County Veterans Assistance Commission will be renamed in honor of local Medal of Honor recipient Lieutenant Colonel Harold Fritz on November 15 at 1:30 p.m.—the public is invited to join the tribute. Peoria County
- ➤ The Peoria County Highway Department announced that work on Maxwell Road will begin February 24th—if weather permits. The project will follow planned protocols and may be adjusted if conditions change. Peoria County
- ➤ Government officials said that Cedar Hills Drive—from Crater Lane to Bland Road—will have intermittent lane closures starting Wednesday, November 20 for a water main replacement project. Peoria County
- ➤ Peoria City/County Landfill is reaching capacity and will soon close+ residents who use its free load program, bring construction debris, or dispose of large items will be affected+ and must look for other ways to dispose of their waste. Peoria County
- ➤ Peoria County is now accepting applications for the annual Civic Leadership Academy, a program run with the City of Peoria & designed to build leadership skills in residents. Peoria County
- ➤ On March 11, the Peoria County Highway Department closed the Staab Road bridge in Medina Township due to structural deterioration — officials have not provided a reopening date. Peoria County

- ➤ The Peoria Area Association of Realtors released third quarter housing data showing improvements as the market added over 120 new listings compared to Q2, with 1,543 homes sold and average prices rising about 4% to roughly $208,000 — officials note autumn is a good time to sell given falling interest rates. 25 News Now
