  • WTVP announced its 40 Leaders Under Forty Class of 2025 on Wednesday, Dec. 3 by selecting 40 local young leaders from over 100 applications. The recipients will be honored at an induction ceremony on March 12 at the Par-A-Dice Hotel in East Peoria.  Peoria Journal Star
  • Warming centers offer residents relief during extreme cold. EastSide Centre (1 EastSide Drive) is open weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., while East Peoria Civic Plaza (401 W Washington St) welcomes visitors Monday to Saturday with hours from 9 a.m. to early evening.  City of East Peoria

  • East Peoria shut down its emergency alert system after a cybercriminal group breached the OnSolve CodeRED platform+ officials transferred subscribers to the new CODERED by Crisis 24 system and urged users to update similar passwords.  WMBD

  • Veterans shared powerful stories with Peoria Heights students during the 12th Annual Veterans Art Exhibit at the Peoria Public Library on Wednesday. The exhibit, which runs through the end of the month, fostered personal connections that let students learn how art can aid healing.  25 News Now
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat begins tomorrow at Eastlight Theatre in East Peoria. Narrator Ashley Fischer—tasked with recounting the vibrant production—says the show features fast-paced music and choreography.  WCBU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Peoria Public Schools plans a $3 million renovation at Central Park Pool after acquiring it earlier this year. The phased upgrades will improve the filter system, infrastructure, and HVAC — the district is seeking funds to restore swim lessons for children and support community use.  WMBD
  • Bradley University & DePaul University announced Wednesday a program offering qualified Bradley seniors and recent graduates guaranteed entry to DePaul Law in Chicago with at least $13,400 in scholarship support. Up to five students with a minimum 3.65 GPA and LSAT score of 153 will join the program.  WCBU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Expecting families enrolled in Medicaid now receive in-home prenatal and postpartum care after the coverage expansion took effect on Nov. 21, according to the health department; the benefit aims to improve maternal and child health in Central Illinois & ease appointment challenges.  25 News Now
