- ➤ Community leaders celebrated 75 years of the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria on Wednesday, marking a historic milestone that includes the opening of a new terminal and the addition of Mt. Hawley Airport in North Peoria. Director of Airports Gene Olson said the authority, which took over operations from the Peoria Park District in 1950, is now at record performing levels—an achievement that underscores its lasting impact on the region.
